The Luxembourg Maritime Cluster organized a conference on 27th September at the Chamber of Commerce under the title Towards cleaner maritime activities. In front of an audience of more than 60 people, a dozen speakers from Germany, Belgium and Luxembourg have in a few minutes each shared their solutions to reduce emissions of CO2, NOx and SOx, as well as others fine particles may be fewer but just as harmful.
Each speaker was able to provide the assembly with an idea of the progress of research into the reduction of harmful emissions from maritime activity. As between 2020 and 2050, several European emission limitation directives for merchant ships will come into effect, shipowners and shipyards have expressed their concerns and presented their positions to comply with its new regulations.
The evening ended with the traditional Networking Drink allowing to prolong the exchanges.
