Luxembourg Premiere: Release of the very first Luxembourg Maritime Code
The Luxembourg Maritime Cluster is very proud to announce the publication of the very first Luxembourg Maritime Code. This release testifies to the development of Luxembourg expertise in the maritime sector.
As a matter of fact, this initiative was jointly carried out by three members of the cluster, namely Dean Olivier Cachard (University of Lorraine), Me Yann Hilpert (Partner in the Banking & Finance practice of OPF Partners) and Mr. Cédric Raths (Reference Corporate Services).
This unique tool, prefaced by Luxembourg Deputy Prime Minister Etienne Schneider and Government Commissioner for Maritime Affairs Robert Biwer encompasses a collection of major applicable statutes, international conventions, national and EU legislation in the field of maritime law and shipping. Each chapter includes comments referring to decisions of the Court of Justice of the European Union and academic research.
The Luxembourg Maritime Code is a must-have for lawyers, accredited maritime managers, insurers, bankers, civil servants and investors. It can be purchased at well-assorted Luxembourg bookshops or online
The Luxembourg Maritime Code was presented on the occasion of the second conference on maritime law organized by the Luxembourg Maritime Cluster and sponsored by OPF Partners and Reference Corporate Services. Main speakers were co-author Dean Olivier Cachard and Me Taco van der Valk, President of the Dutch Maritime Law Association who delivered a speech on the Containerization and Door-to-Door Transportation under the Rotterdam Rules. Fifty guests registered for the event. The pictures of the event can be seen in the photo gallery.
