The Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois organized its traditional 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 on February 27th, 2024, at BGL BNP Paribas in Luxembourg premises.
After an 𝘖𝘱𝘦𝘯𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘚𝘱𝘦𝘦𝘤𝘩 given by the host, and member of our Board of Directors, Etienne Jacques, the Cluster gave the floor to 𝘁𝘄𝗼 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀:
BONN & SCHMITT, represented by Bart Vermaat, an independent full-service law firm with an extensive international practice, well-established in Luxembourg, created in 1988, which advises both medium and small-sized companies as well as companies listed on the Forbes Global 2000 list.
Green Navy, represented by Charles Cardi, the company designs and develops electro-hydrogen powered catamarans for the transport of passengers and goods. In September 2023, the company unveiled the launch into production of its ship named 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘦𝘰, the first European ship with electro-hydrogen propulsion for commercial passenger transport activities.

The Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois organized its annual New Members’ Event on October 24th, 2023, at ING Luxembourg, during which three new members give a pitch presentation.
Our Premium member Brouxel & Rabia, Luxembourg Law Firm, was introduced by François Brouxel, Co-Founder and Partner. With a multicultural team speaking 14 languages, the firm is known for its unwavering commitment to delivering high-quality legal services to a diverse clientele worldwide. They offer a comprehensive range of legal solutions (Corporate law, Investment funds, Real estate, M&A, Private Equity, Tax, Banking & Finance, Dispute resolution, Regulatory matters, etc.), ensuring that clients receive expert guidance tailored to their needs.
Our new member Britannia Steam Ship Insurance Association Europe (part of Britannia P&I Club) was represented by Bertrand Mohr, Chief Risk Officer. The group is one of the market leaders in the International Group of P&I Club and the first established in 1855. They provide shipowners and charterers (called « Members ») with protection and indemnity insurance, as well as freight, demurrage, and defense insurance.
And our new member Kouros was presented by Francis Bretnacher, Managing Director, and Alain Guinot, Chief Risk Officer at Kouros France. The company, created in 2016, follows a unique business model: it is an active investor in established companies and an entrepreneur developing its own projects, supporting production facilities, transport and the distribution of renewable energies, and more.
We thank Isabel Frits, Head of Wholesale at ING Luxembourg, for giving the Opening speech and ING Luxembourg for welcoming the Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois and hosting the event in their premises. On November 29th, 2022, the Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl organized a New Members’ Event at Tero River House in Luxembourg.
After the opening speech of Mr. Fabrice Maire, Chairman of the Cluster, we introduced Bourbon Services Luxembourg S.à.r.l. Mr. François Brijs, Maritime Manager, gave an interesting presentation about the company’s activities.
Bourbon operates in 30 countries with 6,290 employees. They have the 1st offshore fleet services in the industry. They have 285 vessels. In September 2022, has been created Bourbon Wind, following the Bourbon Group’s increasing involvement in the sector. Bourbon Wind will lead Bourbon Group’s strategy and the implementation of its wind development plan to serve and coordinate all activities in this field, offering cross-functional synergies of Bourbon Subsea Services, Bourbon Mobility, and Bourbon Marine & Logistics.
Their vision: « Committed to supporting offshore energies development as a reference partner, building sustainable and innovative maritime solutions. »
On October 11th, 2022, the Cluster Maritime Luxembourgeois asbl welcomed Euronav as a new member 2022 during an event at Cercle Münster. Its Chief Financial Officer, Ms. Lieve Logghe gave a company presentation and insights about their strategy of net zero emission for 2050. The members had the luck also to meet Mr. Alex Staring, Chief Operating Officer, and Mr. Glenn Mariën, Group Tax Manager.
Euronav Luxembourg S.A. has been based in the Grand-Duchy since 1995, early stage of the maritime sector. They employ around 220 people in offices throughout Europe and Asia, and about 3,200 seafarers. Euronav is the world’s largest independent tanker shipping company engaged in the safe, reliable, and efficient shipping and storage of crude oil. They are listed on Euronext Brussels and on the NYSE under the symbol « EURN ». Euronav owns, operates and manages a young fleet of around 70 vessels, consisting of VLCCs, Suezmaxes, FSOs and V-plus.
To reduce emissions, they have split their strategy: REDUCE & INVEST (less energy used) until 2027 & SWITCH & SCALE-UP (cleaner energy used) to achieve their goals for 2050. The target for 2024 is carbon neutrality at roundtrip via lower carbon fuels. They aim to achieve for 2030, 40% lower emission CO2 intensity at fleet level compared to 2008, and 80% by 2040.
